Our Craft
A RichlyRewarding Spirit
The Glendronach is a carefully balanced dance between our robust Highland spirit with Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry casks from Andalucìa, Spain.
Using age-old techniques that have been carefully refined over nearly two hundred years, our in-house artisans have honed their craft to produce an extraordinary single malt.
ExceptionalBy Design
The Glendronach is a marriage of robust Highland spirit with rich sherry cask maturation. This exquisite duality brings exceptional depth, complexity and character to our whiskies.
Rare Spanish Oak
The most influential element to affect spirit character is the oak cask in which it spends its life maturing. Our founder, James Allardice, was an early pioneer of sherry cask maturation. He used the finest sherry casks from Jerez de la Frontera in Southern Spain. It is prized for its rarity, porosity and natural tannins which contribute to intense flavours and a deep, natural colour.
Highland Spirit andSpanish Sherry Casks
The Glendronach signature style is derived from both Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry casks. Pedro Ximénez casks impart rich, deep fruit flavours and an intensely dark, natural colour. The dry and nutty notes come from our Oloroso casks. It is the partnership of robust highland spirit and Spanish sherry oak casks which create the complex depth and flavour for which The Glendronach is so well known.
Time Honoured Craftsmanship
The Glendronach is borne from an almost 200 year refining of our handcrafted techniques. Our traditional wooden washbacks made from Scottish Larchwood, Saxophone shaped stills and traditional dunnage warehouses – together form a slow and carefully attended process.
