One of One Auction donation –
Bottle No.1 of The GlenDronach Aged 50 Years with Master Blender Rachel Barrie
THE GLENDRONACH ONE-OF-A-KIND SINGLE MALT AUCTIONED FOR CHARITY
Bottle No.1 of The GlenDronach Aged 50 Years, the distillery’s first-ever Single Malt at this milestone age statement, has been auctioned as part of the inaugural Distillers One of One Auction raising a total of £40,000*. The auction, which saw over 40 lots of ultra-rare and unique whiskies and experiences donated by distilleries across Scotland, raised an incredible £3.1 million/ $4.1 million.
Distilled in 1971 and matured in Spanish oak sherry casks, patiently nurtured by generations of The GlenDronach’s custodians, this rare bottling has been exquisitely crafted by Master Blender Rachel Barrie. The auction lot was specially engraved with ‘BottleNo.1’ to mark its rarity. Inside the leather presentation box adorned with a bespoke ‘Bottle No.1’ plaque, was a personal invitation from Master Blender Rachel Barrie to join her for a private distillery tasting and dining experience.
The GlenDronach’s first ever 50 year old expression will be available in international markets from early 2022 and full details of the expression and its availability will be shared in the new year.
“I am honoured and proud to have been able to share this exquisite Single Malt with The Worshipful Company of Distillers One of One Auction. This exceptionally rare expression represents five decades of dedication to the craft of whisky-making at The GlenDronach. I look forward to welcoming the successful bidder for a very special ‘behind-the-scenes’ visit to the home of the sherried-cask connoisseur.”
Master Blender, Rachel Barrie

About The GlenDronach Distillery:
Nestled in the valley of Forgue, deep in the East Highland hills, is The GlenDronach, one of the oldest licensed distilleries in Scotland. The GlenDronach is of true Highland style: a complex and full-bodied spirit, perfect for slow maturation in Spanish sherry oak. At The GlenDronach Distillery, we have carried forth the tradition of our founder James Allardice since 1826, maturing our Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky in the finest Spanish Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry casks from Andalucía in Spain.
Our richly-sherried Highland Single Malts are recognised for their deep colour and complex flavour profiles, which range from the sweet fruity flavours of the Pedro Ximénez casks we select, to the dry and nutty notes of our Oloroso casks.

About The Distillers One of One
Launched in 2021, the Distillers One of One is a biennial series of auctions of Scottish whisky in aid of disadvantaged young people in Scotland. Led by The Distiller’s Charity, the philanthropic arm of The Worshipful Company of Distillers, and in partnership with Sotheby’s, the Scotch Whisky industry has gathered together to support philanthropy. Participating distilleries are donating ultra-rare whisky and experiences for sale at auction aiming to raise in excess of £1 million during the initial 3 December 2021 auction.
In order to help transform the life chances of young people in Scotland post-pandemic, The Distillers Charity has created the Youth Action Fund. The proceeds from the Distillers One of One auction will be disbursed from the fund to a number of charities that focus on empowering Scotland’s young adults to create positive change in their lives and communities. Sotheby’s will also donate a portion of their buyer’s premium from the auction to The Distiller’s Charity.
